Our Aftercare

We know that the days and weeks following the loss of a loved one can be challenging, but you do not have to face the journey through grief alone. Sheli Cheevers is our compassionate, dedicated Aftercare Coordinator. We encourage you to seek out her valuable guidance along the way. Sheli listens, suggests methods for coping, and provides helpful resources. In addition, she hosts several grief care gatherings and events throughout the year to offer those who are grieving a chance to talk about their journey, receive support, and feel less alone.

For additional grief support and guidance on all that follows the death of a loved one, please visit our Everything After and Brighter Mornings page.

Circle of Care Support Group

This six-week grief support group is open to anyone in Spencer or the surrounding communities who has experienced the death of a loved one. Each week the group examines different grief-related topics in a comfortable, welcoming setting where participants are encouraged to share their feelings and, in turn, receive support from others in attendance. As a result, there is healing and a feeling of hope for the future.

Sessions are offered in the spring and fall. Please contact the funeral home at 712-262-3640 for specific dates and additional details.

Candlelight Service of Remembrance

This annual candlelight service is held during the holiday season. Along with the area ministerial association and local hospice group, we strive to present a service that provides support, encouragement, and inspiration at a time when families often need it most. A time of fellowship follows the service.

For specific details, please call the funeral home at 712-262-3640.
