Wilma Elizabeth Mueller

Wilma Elizabeth Walker was born December 29, 1926 in Vichy, Missouri, to Hadley and Fannie Tipton Walker. She was the eldest of 6 children. She was raised in Missouri and graduated high school at age 16 in Jefferson City, MO. She met Donald D. Heumphreus and married him on July 25, 1943 in Des Moines, IA. She traveled with him to his posts around the country before he was sent overseas to be a gunner in a B-17. He flew many missions, came back to Wilma and they lived in Missouri for a short time. While there, their son Garey was born. They moved to Hawarden, IA where daughters Pam and Kim were born. They made their home there until 1965. They then moved to Hartley, IA for the next 10 years. After Don retired, they moved to Rogers, AR which Wilma loved. They eventually moved back to Peterson, IA to be closer to kids and grandkids. Don passed away in 1988 and Wilma moved to Spencer, IA. She met Jerry Mueller and they married in 1997. Jerry passed away in 2003.

Wilma loved to play golf and did so into her 70s. She liked to travel and went to Germany to visit her son, Garey, and his family. Wilma was an avid card player and played until just a few years ago. Only when her mobility suffered did she slow down at all!

Wilma passed away at the Spencer Municipal Hospital on July 21, 2022 at the age of 95.  Left to remember her are her three children, their children, and great-grandchildren. Garey (Pam) Heumphreus, of Alabama, children Nicole Heumphreus (Jon Tessmann) and their daughter, Taylor of Alabama, Dustin (Julie) Heumphreus, Germany, and their children Aiden, Luke and Hope. Pam (Cary) Klatt of Peterson, IA, children Jason Petersen and his children, Dana and Kylie, Jody Worstell and family, and Megan (Charlie) Allison of St Charles, IA and their children, Ashton and Jayde. Kim (Mike) Gordon of Spencer, IA and their son Donald of Moorhead, MN.  Two sisters, Sue Gillmore of Alva, Fl, Phyllis Walker of Franklin, NC, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Wilma in death are her parents, her husband, Don, her husband, Jerry, an infant daughter and an infant grandson, sister June Walker, brothers Hadley Jr (Bud) Walker and Jerry Walker, brother-in-law John Gillmore, brother-in-law Ralph Heumphreus, sister-in-law Colleen Walker, brother-in -law Elmo Walker, nephews Larry Gillmore and Bradley Walker.
