William Paul Olson

We Mournfully announce the passing of William Paul Olson age 85 of Spencer, IA. William passed away on April 27, 2022 after a long battle with diabetes, lung problems and cardiac issues.

William was born to Edith and Irvin Olson. William took his first breath on June 10, 1936. Most of William’s life revolved around raising livestock and agriculture. He was active in 4-H and with Future Farmers of America. He attended Spencer High School and graduated in 1954. He then attended college at Iowa State University focusing on agriculture. William was then drafted into the United States Army and spent time overseas in Germany prior to being honorably discharged.

William returned home to take over the family farm. While William was never married, he enjoyed a full and vibrant life with close friends he developed throughout life. William loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and their children whom he adored.

William had 2 siblings, Julie, a younger deceased sister and his surviving brother John. William had many hobbies, including spending time with family outdoor activities, canoeing, snowmobiling, hunting, water skiing, and driving amphibious all terrain vehicles with long time friends. William was a member of the Shriners, Moose Club, and various other organizations.

He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. A memorial gathering will be held at a later time.
