William J. Myers

     William J. Myers was born in Gillett Grove, Iowa, to Roy and Olivia Myers on March 6, 1935.  He received his early education and graduated from Gillett Grove Hill Toppers.  At graduation, Bill was offered several full ride basketball scholarships but he chose to stay home and help on the family farm.

     On August 24, 1957, Bill was united in marriage to Karen Eldridge and they purchased the current family farm in 1968.  They farmed there together until Karen’s passing in 2013.  Bill continued to farm until his passing on March 23, 2019.  Bill was a hardworking farmer, he loved his farm and loved his family.

     Bill made great friends in his community, church, and his work on the board of the Ayrshire Telephone Company of which he was president.  Bill enjoyed serving his church in the choir, and as a lector and serving communion.  Bill was quite the dancer.  He rarely missed an opportunity to go dancing and spend time with his friends.  He loved his family and made every effort to spend time with them.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Karen; and daughter, Mary.

     Bill is survived by his five children: Kathy (Bryce), Dianna (Brett), Sherry, Billy (Stephanie) and Anthony; his grandchildren: Adam (Sonya) Hanisch, Joshua (Natalie) Hanisch, James (Natasha) Hanisch, Taylor, Teon and Breahna Millikan, Veronica (Grant) Engler, Shayla, Tabbatha (Rob) Winkler, Cody (Sue) Myers, Ethan (Sarah) Myers, Will, Micah, Mitchell Myers; 11 great-grandchildren; and his best friend and dancing partner, Harriet Berger.
