William Biedenfeld was born March 31, 1928 to Carl and Josephine (Novak) Biedenfeld at Faulkton, SD.  They moved to Iowa when he was 2 years old to what was known as group 21 farm.  After 5 years, they moved to the Bertram farm in Clay Township, north of Peterson, where he has lived for 85 years.  He attended a country school near Peterson and graduated from Peterson High School in 1945. After his schooling, he started farming with his father.  He entered the military in 1951 and served with the Army during the Korean War with the 321st Signal Corp and spent time in Germany.  Following his honorable discharge in 1953, he returned to Peterson to farm.

On April 12, 1953, he married Nora Beatrice Warren.  They have lived on the farm their entire lives, where they raised their family and traveled the USA and the world.  He enjoyed fishing, woodworking (he made several special projects for family and friends from the farm trees), socializing at coffee and living life to the last and liked to read.  Bill enjoyed working with youth and was Cub master for the Cub Scout Troop in Royal.  He was also a 4-H volunteer for 39 years, serving on the 4-H committee, Extension Council, 4-H leader and was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame in 2017.  He served on the Clay Central School Board for 9 years.  He was a member and was on the board of directors of the Clay County Cattleman for many years.  Bill was a former member of the Maple Grove Church near Peterson and was a current active member of the United Methodist Church in Royal, serving on various committees.

Bill passed away at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the age of 91.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his inlaws, Charles & Florence Warren; his sister, Carlene Kallansrud and three infant brothers.
