Vicki Rae Heckroth

On December 23, 2022, Vicki Rae (Handy) Heckroth died peacefully at home with her husband by her side at the age of 61. Vicki Rae ( Handy) Heckroth was born on February 27, 1961 in Spencer Iowa to Gail and Bonnie (Bailey) Handy. She spent the early years of her life in Worthington, MN. She moved to Greenville, IA in 1970. She was raised by her father and mother Shirley (Werkhoven) Handy. She attended school at Clay Central in Royal, IA and graduated in 1979. Vicki was blessed with three children. Vicki spent several years in Lennon, Michigan where she met the love of her life. On March 4,1990 in Spencer Iowa she was united in marriage with her soulmate Tim Heckroth who raised the children as his own. Vicki held many restaurant management positions with Family Table and Burger King throughout her life, until she could no longer work due to health issues. She enjoyed diamond painting, crafting, baking and spending time with her family. She cherished every moment she spent with her eleven grandchildren. She was so proud of all of them. After losing her son, she helped others through tough times through GLASS (Gaining Life after Surviving Suicide). Vicki will be remembered as having unconditional love and kindness, that she showed everyone unconditionally. Vicki was most happy when her house was full of family and friends. Her beautiful soul and memories will forever be cherished by her husband of 32 years Tim Heckroth of Peterson, IA, daughters Heidi (Brian) Axford of Spirit Lake, IA, Melissa (Dustin) Fischer of Bismarck, ND, parents Gail (Shirley) Handy of Terril, grandchildren Carson, Carter, Jenna, Adam, Brady, and Collin of Spirit Lake, IA, Breanna, Devon, Logan, Abigail, and Gavin of Bismarck, ND, siblings Terrie (Glen) Gronau Montrose, MI, Rod Handy Cherokee, IA, Kristi (Scott) Jones The Colony, TX, Brian (Diane) Handy, North Bend, OR, In-Laws Janice (Jeff) Tuckey Cass City, MI, Randy (Shelly) Heckroth, Caro, MI, Karen (Matt) Cooper, Witchita, KS, and Paula (John) Walker Deford, MI, Daniel Heckroth, and Ronald Heckroth and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Matthew, mother Bonnie Handy, mother and father in law Paul and Donna ( Webb) Heckroth , Sister in law Nancy Stokes and Nephew Chrisopher Heckroth.
