Toni Rochelle Quillin

     Toni Rochelle Quillin was born February 25, 1964 in Sioux Falls, SD to Gerald and Sydney VerMeer.  Toni spent her early years in Spencer, where she graduated in 1982. 

     While in high school, she fell in love with the boy next door, Gregory Quillin, marrying him on October 20, 1983 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.  Shortly after their wedding, Greg joined the Marine Corps which took them to different military bases eventually landing at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina where Toni worked on base for several years. Their military and motorcycle friends became like family and they loved traveling to motorcycle rallies and races together. 

     After Greg’s untimely death in 2002, Toni moved back to Spencer to be closer to family.  Her prayers were answered when she became a mother on February 24, 2007 to Brenden Gregory Quillin. Toni beamed with pride whenever asked about Brenden.  

     Toni passed along many loves to Brenden but most notably the love of animals and camping.  Toni could never say no to another animal, she always had room in her home for another furry friend.  Toni and Brenden also enjoyed traveling and camping, visiting friends in the Black Hills, Kentucky, and North Carolina with their camper.

    Toni will be remembered for her heart of gold, always being late to family events, and her love of children. Most recently, she worked at Spencer Community School District with Special Education at Lincoln School and the Spencer YMCA after school program.

     Toni was preceded in death by her husband, Greg Quilln, mother and father, Gerald and Sydney VerMeer, in-laws Ed and Helene Quillin, and brother-in-law Mike Hynes.

     Left to cherish her memories are her son, Brenden,  sisters Traci Hynes of Spencer, IA, Kelli Yoes (Chester) of Hartley, IA, and Teresa Deeter (Joe) of Dumas, TX. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
