Theresa Ann Paulsen

   Theresa “Terri” was born in Spencer to Ralph and Eva Ginger on March 8, 1938.  She went to grade school in Langdon and High School at Spencer High.  She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in 1957 with a teaching certification, married Robert Engel of Lake Park Iowa in 1957.  That union produced three boys; Kevin Jay, Greg Alan and Jeffrey Scott.  After raising her three boys in Sheldon she went back to college and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in teaching in 1994.  She went on to teach at St. Patricks School and NITC as a librarian until 2002. She married Gus Paulsen on September 24, 2004 in Spencer.

     Theresa was a giving person and spent many years in education as a teacher and librarian.  Her passion for teaching was evident in her devotion to her lifetime mission of raising three boys. In her retirement she enjoyed long walks, writing in her journal and crossword puzzles.    

      Theresa was preceded in death by mother Eva, father Ralph, sisters Gertrude, Genevieve, Charlotte; brothers Robert and Dwayne; husband Gus, niece Pat (a sister at heart).   

      Theresa is survived by her three sons Kevin (Traci) Engel, Greg (Valerie) Engel, Jeff (Becky) Engel, Grandchildren Bret, Kristin, Danielle, Taylor, Kyle, Jacob, Hanna, Ashley, Connor, and Brooke, and five great-grandchildren.
