     Steven Robert DePauw, the son of Norbert and Rosemary (Augustine) DePauw, was born on July 28, 1958 in Slayton, MN. He was raised and received his early education there, graduating from Slayton High School. Following graduation, he entered into the military on June 15, 1977, serving in the U.S. Army. During his time in the military he was stationed in Bamberg, Germany, Colorado Springs, CO, Aberdeen, MD, Dexheim, Germany and Spencer. While in the military, he served as a machinist, instructor, cannon crew member/gunner and a recruiter. He met Becky while he was in Spencer. Steve was honorably discharged on June 30, 1995, after serving 18 years.

     On August 3, 1996, Steve married Rebecca (Bjorn) Lunn in Spencer. Following their marriage, Steve worked for Eaton Corporation for 11 years and then Corn Belt Power for 13 years. Steve was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, served on the Youth Council and also was involved with the Men of Bethany. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1 and served as Commander for 3 years. Steve enjoyed playing golf with his friends and family, driving his Shelby Mustang, traveling with Becky in their 5th wheel and cheering on his Hawkeyes, Twins and Vikings. The most important things to Steve were the love of his family and country.

     Steve passed away on Thursday, January 30 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, William C. Brown; his brother, James; 4 infant siblings: John, Robert, Timothy and Lisa.

     Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Rebecca of Spencer, IA; 6 children: Jeramy DePauw of Las Vegas, NV, Kelly Graham (Chad) of Chesterland, OH, Traci Erwin (Mike) of Cullowhee, NC, Sarah Lindsay of Mason City, IA; Bri Gardner (Josh) of North Liberty, IA and Whitney Lunn (Jeremy Fisher) of Cedar Rapids, IA; 6 grandchildren: Caleb & Jasmine Lindsay, Clayton, Caine, Kienan & Charlie Graham; 1 great grandchild: Rowan Lindsay; 2 sisters: Jeanne Toews (Rick) of St. Anthony, MN and Theresa Reeves (Mark) of Circle Pines, MN; 3 brothers: David (Deb) of Lakeville, MN, Ed (Nancy) of Hudson, WI and Bruce (Dawn) of Lakeville, MN; his goddaughter: Mikaela DePauw; other relatives and many friends.

SERVICES
Funeral Service will be 10 :30 A.M., Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa.

Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion - Glen Pedersen Post #1 and V.F.W. Clay County Post #3159. 

There will be a lunch following the service in the church hall.
