Sherwood Allan “Bud” Myers, a lifelong resident of Spencer, Iowa, passed away peacefully at the age of 88. Known for his infectious humor, unwavering work ethic, and deep love for his family and friends, Bud lived a life full of joy, laughter, and purpose.
Born in Spencer, Iowa, Bud was the son of Irvin and Mabel (Walstrom). He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister Shirley Mason, and his brother Duane “Red” Myers.
Bud married Mary Eischeid in Spencer, Iowa, in 1957. Together they were blessed with five children: Brenda Ferrendelli of Upland, CA, Tracy Myers of Nashville, TN, Paul and Darcy Myers of Leawood, KS, Amy Engel (Mike Paul) of San Diego, CA, and Kim and Gregg Stanislav of Spencer, IA. Their entrepreneurial spirit led them to expand the small family farm to multiple acres, turning their dreams into reality, and a hobby into a passion. Bud retired from Northwestern Bell after many years of service to pursue farming full-time. In 2004, Bud received a thirty-year award for his dedication to the Clay County Fair, a testament to his dedication and desire.
He is survived by his dear wife Mary, their five children, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends who cherished his company and wit. Many will remember him for his pranks and his ability to fix anything, as his mechanically inclined approach to life was appreciated by many.
Bud's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the laughter and love he brought into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to charities of your choice in his honor.
