Sherry Kay Weikum

   Sherry was born on February 1, 1958 to Donald and Betty (Vance) Weikum in Spencer, Iowa. Sherry was raised and attended school here, graduating from Spencer High School. After graduation she attended Iowa State University. She then took a job as an assistant for a State Senator working at the capital. Later she attended Iowa University and obtained a Masters in Economics. She moved to Ames and started working for Iowa State University in the Computer Science Department until her retirement in 2023.

   Sherry liked to make jewelry, enjoyed going on camping trips and fishing. She loved animals, especially cats. As a child, she attended the First Congregational Church in Spencer.

   Sherry passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the Careage Hills Nursing Home in Cherokee, at the age of 68. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald and two uncles.

   Sherry is survived by her devoted mother, Betty Weikum of Spencer, IA; her aunt and uncle, Donn and Lida Vance of Monterey, TN; several cousins; other relatives and friends.
