Ruth Lorraine Ness

     Ruth Lorraine Ness, the daughter of Joe and Minnie (Luze) Sweet, was born December 22, 1931 in Webb, Iowa.  Her childhood years were spent in Webb, where she received her education in Webb schools.

     Ruth married Alfred Ness on May 5, 1951.      After their marriage, they lived in Spencer, Iowa, where she raised her family and worked part time at Helen’s Laundry for 9 years. She loved working outdoors and raising flowers. Later in life, she enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls. Ruth was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

     She passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the age of 88.  She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sons: Gary, Larry and Roger Ness; 3 brothers: Jim, Fred and Leonard Sweet and a sister, Lucille Campbell.

     Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Kathryn and her husband, Larry Mackie of Scottsdale, AZ; two sons: Curtis (Rose) Ness of Spencer, IA and Melvin Brown of Burnsville, MN; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters: Evelyn and Martha Sweet both of Spencer, IA; one brother, Bill Sweet of Spencer, IA; other relatives and many friends.
