Listen to Obituary

Rosemary Louise Reed Weber was born on May 5, 1944, to parents George R. Reed and Rosamond Reed in Sioux Rapids, IA and died on March 19, 2026, at home in Wake Forest, NC.

Her early years were filled with 4-H club, band, basketball, and being named to the Who’s Who list. After graduating from Sioux Valley she attended the University of South Dakota. She graduated with a degree in Home Economics Education in 1966. Rosemary was a member of Alpha Phi where she served as President and was voted Miss Vanity Fair. She was also a member of the Rifle Club and a life long member of Eastern Star.

Rosemary married George L. Weber on March 25, 1967 in Peterson, IA. They settled in the Washington DC area, where she taught Home Ec for several years and then worked for the Midwest Research Institute. She then began traveling as a Consumer Information Specialist for the General Services Administration.

After starting a family, she volunteered at school, worked part time for the White House Historical Association, and found endless joy in hunting for and adding to her antique collections. This led her to become an antique dealer, where she delighted in meeting new people, making many dear friends, and traveling the countryside for that one unique find.

Through the years she also enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and her beloved border collies. But, what made her the happiest was spending time with her friends and family.

Her selflessness, resilience, grace, wit, and her “side eye” will forever be missed but will stay embedded in all the hearts she touched.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Betty Massa and Jim Reed as well as her sister-in-law Luella Reed, niece Mary Massa and nephews Mark Reed and Mike Weber.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her husband George Weber and Daughter Kimberly Shoemaker, Son-in-law John Shoemaker, and Grandson Tyler Shoemaker. She is also survived by cousins Birney Terrell, Dee Vanderhoef, and Bill Deegan, Brother-in-law Jim Weber and his wife Yula. Along with those loved ones she is survived by a plethora of nephews, nieces, and friends across the country.
