Ronald Cross Skelton, the son of Wendell Bertness and Ines Mae (Cross) Skelton was born August 9, 1944, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. He was baptized October 31, 1954, at the First Baptist Church in Webb, and joined the church November 7, 1954. He grew up in in rural Webb, Iowa, where he received is education and graduated from Webb School in 1962. Following graduation, he attended Iowa State University receiving a Science Degree.
On July 5, 1968, Ronald entered into the military serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. While in the military he served during the Vietnam War. He went to Marine training school and served as an A-4 Pilot. One memorable experience was when he lost his plane in the ocean near Okinawa. He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1980.
He was employed as a window contractor for American Building Components in Mobil, AL. He also helped on the farm with his family. Ron enjoyed flying and reading about Admirals and history, especially how the United States came into the Union.
Ronald passed away at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Friday, September 9, 2022, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Lowell and Larry.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Harold (Alice) Skelton of Webb, IA; his sister, Judith Williams (David)
of Thompsonville, MI; his sister-in-law, Joyce Skelton of Watertown, SD; several nieces, nephews; other relatives, and friends.
