Roberta Brehmer

     Roberta Brehmer was born April 2, 1922, in Brooks Township, south of Peterson, Iowa, to Louis and Elsie (Amendt) Kracht. She was Baptized and Confirmed at St. John’s Church. She received her education at the Brooks Consolidated School, graduating with the class of 1940.

     On January 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arnold Brehmer. After farming north of Peterson for 10 years, they moved to Peterson where she has resided the past 67 years. She worked at the Tigges Pharmacy and was secretary of the Peterson and Sioux Valley School systems for many years. She loved music, dancing, baseball, softball, arts and crafts, painting and sewing. She enjoyed her community and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their baseball, softball, soccer, swimming, and music events. 

     She was a life long member of St. John’s Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir (she and her sister sang duets at many funerals) and held various offices in Women’s Fellowship and the church council. She enjoyed singing in the Community Cantata’s. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Peterson Red Hats, O’Brien Art Club, several social clubs and the Iowa Artists Association. She was a certified Election Official and served actively for many years.

     On Saturday, January 27, 2024, Roberta passed away at her home at the age of 101. Preceding her in death were her parents; infant son, Roger; her husband, Arnold in 1988, son-in-law, Marvin Faulkender; grandson, Kip Faulkender; and brother, Richard Kracht.

     Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Ardelle Faulkender of Spencer, IA; one son, Byron Brehmer of Shepherd, MT; grandchildren: Lance (Pam) Faulkender of Spencer, IA, Cory (Brenda) Faulkender of Wichita, KS, Brian (Dawn) Brehmer of Corona Del Mar, CA, Timothy (Laura) Brehmer of Austin, TX, and Mary Kate (Brian) Huntsberger of Paso Robles, CA; eight great-grandchildren: Sydni and Ryonna Faulkender, Camden and Easton Faulkender, Braylie Murrey, Carter and Perri Huntsberger; and Stella Brehmer. One sister, Jeanette Raveling of Spirit Lake, IA and sister-in-law, Iris Kracht of Peterson, IA.
