Spencer

Robert Henry Hoeppner, the son of Albert and Catherine (Thee) Hoeppner was born June 12, 1940, in Hartley, Iowa. His childhood years were spent on the family farm in the Moneta, Iowa area.

Robert attended school in Moneta and was in the last class to graduate from Moneta High School in 1959. While in high school, he met Kameron “Kay” Madsen at the roller-skating rink. He married Kay on December 6, 1968. Robert attended tech school in Kansas City to be a mechanic before moving back to the Hartley where he continued to work the family farm until 2002. In addition to farming, he worked for Don Olsen Ford as a mechanic for more than 40 years. He then worked for Spencer Truck Line for nearly 10 years until his retirement in 2009.

Robert enjoyed riding his Goldwing with Kay.  They loved taking long trips by motorcycle along with numerous poker runs and rallies. He enjoyed playing cards and dice, watching Minnesota Twins baseball, tinkering in his garage working on his 1966 Ford Galaxy 500, watching westerns, and bowling. He was a member of Retreads, Northwest Iowa Cycle, Snow Trackers, and First Lutheran Church of Milford.

Robert passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kay; two sons, Michael and Todd; and several beloved dogs.
