Rickey “Rick”  Brandsrud

 

     Born December 27, 1954 to Russell and Jean Brandsrud Brookings South Dakota.  Rick passed away Sunday August 30 th 2020 at the Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls South Dakota after a long illness.

 

     The family moved to Seattle Washington in 1966 where Rick finished his education and joined the US Navy in 1972.  He finished his tour aboard the USS Constellation in 1975 and returned home to Seattle.

 

     Rick met and married the love of his life Sue Goettsch August 9 th, 2012 and moved to Hartley Iowa where they lived until his passing.  He leaves behind his widow, daughters Keri, Teresa, Rachel and Sarah and StepSon Bryan Goettsch, brother David, sisters Kathy, Susan and Linda.  Rick was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

 

     Rick had a big heart for everyone he knew and loved.  He made sure to keep in touch with everyone and always made them feel special in his life.  He was a fun and easygoing guy that was a pleasure to be around.  He will be sorely missed by anyone who knew him.

 

     Rick was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Darrell, nephew Shawn and his Special Companion Buddy.

 

     An Honor Guard Service is planned for him at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent Washington.
