Richard Allen Vaul was born May 4, 1956 in Nevada, IA to Eli and Beverley (Pedersen) Vaul, he spent his childhood in Sioux City, IA where he attended school, until enlisting in the U.S. Marines. He served for many years before being Honorably Discharged.
Richard returned to Sioux City, where he worked for Manpower for a number of years before settling on a job at Wheelchair Transportation, where he met his future wife. He married Kelli Cooper on February 14, 1998. They moved to Spencer, IA in 2000 where he went to work for Johnston Auto store’s. Richard worked there for many years until Menards opened and he worked there until he fully retired in 2020. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, going fishing, doing crosswords and spending time with his grandchildren.
Richard passed away suddenly, Sunday, June 14, 2026 at the Spencer Hospital, at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, William "Bud" Vaul.
Left to cherish his memories are his children; Nick (Mayze) Vaul of Sioux City, IA, Zach Vaul of Spencer, IA, Eli Vaul of Le Mars, IA and Beth (Justin) Brown of Spencer, IA; 3 grandchildren: Sydney, Savannah, and Stanley; Sisters Penny Sorgdrager (Kenneth Angerman Jr.) of Winnebago, MN and Julie Vaul of South Sioux City, IA; many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
