Renee Dixie Barber

   Renee Dixie Barber, the daughter of Loyal (Kelly) O. Randall and Ola G. Mayo Randall was born on April 23rd

of 1929 in Mason City, Iowa. She was raised in Joice, Iowa, graduated from Joice High School in 1947

and shortly thereafter became a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company.

   Dixie was united in marriage on March 5th of 1955 to Arnold Eugene Barber in Sioux City, Iowa. During

their journey together they were joined by their two sons: Jon Kelly Barber and Jay Edwin Barber in 1955

and in 1958 and during their marriage they lived in a number of areas around the country during

Arnold’s career. These included Mason City, Iowa, Omaha, Nebraska, Upland, California, Grand Junction,

Colorado, Oberlin, Kansas and Spencer, Iowa where Arnold joined BASF Corporation as a Senior Sales

Representative in 1975. They were married for 43 years until Arnold passed away on November 26th,

1998 at the age of 71. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and continued to live

in her home in Spencer until she moved to the Ruthven Community Care Center in Ruthven, Iowa two years ago.

   Dixie passed away on January, 20th, 2025 at the age of 96 at the Ruthven Community Care Center in

Ruthven, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold Barber and her sister,

Donna R. Bryant of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

   She is survived by her two sons and daughter in-laws; USN Senior Chief (Ret) Jay Edwin and Jamie

Barber of Cathedral City, California; Jon Kelly and Jutamas Barber of Mukdahan, Thailand; and many

relatives and friends.
