Rebecca "Becky" Joan Bedsaul

Rebecca Joan Bedsaul, the daughter of John and Darlene Short, was born on  December 11th, 1965 in Denison, IA. At a young age her family picked up and moved their lives to the beautiful town of Hope, Arkansas, after several years they returned to reside back in Denison, IA. Rebecca gave birth to her first born son, Caleb John in 1982 and immediately fell in love with her brown eyed baby.

     Rebecca married Richard Bedsaul on April 24th, 1987 at the little white Lutheran church in Denison, IA. Richard and Rebecca had three more boys (Blake, Zach and Thacher) in Denison and then decided to move from various small towns for the next few years until they planted roots in Sutherland, IA. 

     Rebecca worked many years as a CNA at local nursing homes in Cherokee, Sanborn, Hartley and Sutherland, IA before Richard and herself decided to buy local bar/restaurant Beddy’s in Sutherland. She ran the establishment for three years before they decided to sell the business and Rebecca went back to school to get her nursing degree.  Rebecca gained many friends and was adored by everyone who had the honor of working with her. 

     Rebecca was very proud of her four boys of which Caleb was recognized for worldwide publishing of three poems, Blake and Zach who dedicated many years to building and positively influencing their band SAUL and Thacher who’s hard work and intelligence has helped build and sculpt multi-million dollar businesses. 

     Rebecca was a faithful Christian who didn’t claim any church but worshiped in the comfort of her own home. She spent many years playing and enjoying card games, scratch tickets, talking with friends and spending time with her family. Fall was Rebecca’s favorite time of the year. Richard and herself would spend hours going on adventurous car rides, sipping coffee while sitting on their front porch and making candles on their days off. Rebecca was a fun, outgoing person who loved to make others around her very happy. 

     Rebecca passed away Tuesday, October 15th, 2019 at her home in Sutherland, IA at the age of 53. She is preceded in death by her father John, siblings Ricky Short, Rhonda Bedsaul and her eldest son Caleb Short.

     Left to cherish her memory are her husband Richard of Sutherland; 3 sons Blake (Heather) of Paullina, Zach (Sydney) of Sutherland and Thacher of Cherokee; 5 grandchildren Nicholas John, Brea May Ann, Ella Renae, Ava Jane and Asher Paul; other relatives and many friends.
