“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul C. Elms, a beloved husband, father, son, friend, and community pillar, who left us too soon. Paul touched the lives of everyone he met with his unwavering friendship, tireless dedication to helping others, and extraordinary work ethic that inspired all who knew him.
Born to Phillip and Judy Elms, Paul was a cherished son, known for his intelligence, warmth and kindness. He had a remarkable ability to connect with others, and his intelligence and practical skills earned him a reputation as someone who could fix anything. Paul was a skilled mechanic and over the past several years found his passion as the towns workman in Peterson, Iowa. In this role, he fully dedicated himself and it gave him a sense of immense pride. He thoroughly enjoyed serving his community and ensuring that everything ran smoothly and efficiently.
Among his many accomplishments, Paul’s time as a volunteer firefighter and EMT stood out as a significant part of his life. He relished every moment spent in these roles, responding to emergencies with bravery and compassion. The joy he found in helping others during critical times was a testament to his character and commitment to service.
As a devoted husband to Renea Elms, Paul found his soulmate and constant companion. Renea was not only his biggest source of comfort but also his unwavering supporter throughout their journey together. Their bond was a testament to true partnership, filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams.
Paul was also a loving father to his children, Preston, Nikki, and Adriann. He never passed up an opportunity to tell others how proud he was of them. His family was the center of his universe, and he approached fatherhood with the same dedication he applied to every aspect of his life, instilling values of kindness, hard work, and resilience. His love for his family was evident in every moment they shared—whether it was tinkering on one of his many projects, or enjoying the outdoors together.
Paul's generosity knew no bounds. He gave tirelessly to those in need, embodying the spirit of community. His neighbors turned into friends, and he took pride in caring for them, always ready with a helping hand or a listening ear.
He is survived by his loving wife, Renea Elms; his cherished son, Preston; his loving daughters, Nikki and Adriann; his parents, Phillip and Judy Elms; and his sisters, Conni Elms, Jamie (Scott) Larsen, and Marnie (David) Jordan. Paul is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews—Caitlynn, Brody, Lilli, Jackson, Colton, Nathan, Corry, Kyndra, Emily, Olivia, and Irie as well as brother in law; Donald (Amiee) Stoner and sister in law Michelle Stine and many others—who he treated as his own.
Paul C. Elms will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy of love, service, and unwavering friendship will continue to inspire all of us. In our hearts, he will always be remembered as a shining example of what it means to be a true friend, a dedicated family man, and a cherished member of the community.
Rest in peace, Paul. Your spirit lives on in the countless lives you touched.
