Patricia Ann Thuringer

     Let me introduce you to Patricia Ann Thuringer, world record holder for Mother-Of-The-Year from 1959 through 2023 and CEO of the crazy Thuringer family. Unfortunately, Pat passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31st at 89 years young. Even though it was a sad moment for everyone here on earth, we’re sure it was a celebrations of all celebrations when she arrived at the pearly gates. Pat is now reunited with her husband Marvelous Marv, mom Angeline, father Joseph and brothers Jack, Charlie and Paul. 

     Pat was the kindest, sweetest, strongest person you would ever meet, especially over the last few years with her health issues. Not once did she ever complain.  She wasn’t like that. She looked for the good in all of us and every situation. Pat was so loved by everyone.

     Pat was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife and friend you could ever ask for.

     She worked at the YMCA daycare center in Spencer Iowa for over 33 years and was called “Grandma Pat” by all her daycare kids.  Even years later after retiring, it was a regular occurrence to be given a big hug by her “little kids” (as she called them) that were now grown adults with children of their own. Pat loved all her “little kids”.

6 years ago, Pat and Marv moved into the Highlands Independent Living Center in Spencer, Iowa. Pat loved the Highlands and got involved in all the activities and knew everyone. From Sunday night movies, to morning coffee, to mix and mingles and happy hours. She was so lucky to meet so many new friends.

     Just a few weeks before Pat’s passing, she had a birthday coffee and donut get together at the Highlands. She was blown away by how many people showed up. That’s all she talked about for days afterwards. Looking back, we like to call it a “live” wake because she was able to spend time with all of her great friends.  

     Left to cherish her memory are her sons Thomas (Beth) Thuringer of Sun Lakes, AZ and Mark (Susan) Thuringer of Cedar Falls, IA; daughter Cathy (Steve) Shea of Bellevue, NE; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

     Pat lived a long and wonderful life and was loved by all. She will be greatly missed. 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
