Norman Dean Spooner

     Norman Dean Spooner, the son of Howard and Gladys (Rose) Spooner, was born February 6, 1954 in Kansas City, KS.  His childhood years were spent in Spencer, IA, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School.

     Norm married Ann E. Schwarz on June 24, 1978 in Marcus, IA.  After their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer, where Norman worked for Standard Printing and later Heartland Press in Spencer for many years.  He loved watching his Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs.  Norman also enjoyed drawing, painting, writing poems and caring for his family and his cats.  Norman had a dream to invent a game & with a lot of hard work & time he finally succeeded with the board game called SpaceRace.

     He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Spencer on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the age of 68.  Norman was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Delores Bressman and Marcella Fitzner; a brother, Ricky Davis; father-in-law, Marvin Schwarz; brother-in-law’s: Keith & Daniel Schwarz, Larry Ganzevoort & Raymond Vogel and half siblings: Alton Spooner, Cora Spore and Glen Spooner.

     Norm is survived by his wife, Ann of Spencer; two daughters: Rebecca Lynn Williams of Cedar Rapids, IA and Kristina Ann Kluesner of Cedar Falls, IA; one son, Aaron (Sarah) Spooner of Waukee, IA; 7 grandchildren: Kayan & Paityn Williams, Madison, Alexis & Jacob Kluesner & Natalie & Ariana Spooner.; three sisters: Shirley Ganzevoort of Arnolds Park, IA, Judy Vogel of Sioux Rapids, IA and Colleen (Ken) Hoffard of Spencer IA; one brother, Loren Spooner of Spencer, IA; one half brother, Rich Spooner of Waterloo, IA; inlaws: John & Connie Schwarz, Cherokee, IA, Mike Schwarz, Marcus, IA, Bill & Kim Schwarz, Cleghorn, IA, Mary Koerselman, Maurice, IA & friend Nick Van Dam, Jean & Smitty Schmidt, Milford, IA, Sara & Scott Paine, College Place, WA & Leo & Lori Schwarz, Marcus, IA; mother-in-law, Alvira Schwarz, Marcus, IA; lots of stray cats because he fed many of them; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

SERVICES
Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 5, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
OFFICIATING

VISITATION
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, December 4, 2022 with the family present at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

A Public Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 P.M., Sunday at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
