Nancy Ann Lewis

November 8, 1932 — August 28, 2022

Spencer

Nancy Ann Lewis, the daughter of Howard and Lora (Deckard) Stewart, was born November 8, 1932.  Her childhood years were spent in Webb, where she received her education and graduated from Webb High School.

Nancy attended University of Iowa and then married Lowell W. Lewis on April 28, 1951.  They lived on a farm near Rossie where they raised their three children and farmed for over 40 years.  Nancy loved the farm and helped Lowell with many of the jobs there.  She especially liked to haul loads of grain to the Rossie Elevator during harvest.

Nancy and Lowell were a special couple and enjoyed 61 years of a very happy marriage.  Lowell passed away in 2012.  They had fun playing cards, bowling, golfing, traveling and watching their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in school sports and activities.  They enjoyed going south to Texas or Arizona for many years during the winters and spent every summer at their Spirit Lake cottage.

Nancy played the piano and organ and was choir director at the United Church of Christ in Rossie for over 50 years where she was also very active in the Women’s Group.  Nancy also gave piano lessons to many of the children in the area.  When the United Church of Christ in Rossie closed, Lowell and Nancy joined First Congregational Church in Spencer.  They felt very welcomed and enjoyed being part of that Congregation.

Nancy moved to The Highlands in 2014.  She loved her little condo (as she called it) and enjoyed being with all the other people who lived there.  In January of 2021, Nancy transitioned into St. Luke Lutheran Home, where she resided until her death on August 28, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lowell; brother, James Stewart and his wife, Faye; sister-in-law, Shirley Stewart; brother-in-law, Don Wegner; and granddaughter, Ann Lewis.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Linda Landon and her husband, Roger of Indianola, IA, Stewart Lewis and his wife, Julie of Sioux Rapids, IA and Cindy Pearson and her husband, Jeff of Everly, IA; 8 grandchildren: Nicole (Jon) Berends; Jay (Holly) Pearson, Adam (Lindsay) Pearson; Alyssa Landon, Bethany (Peter) Read; Lora (Adam) Smith; Brad Lewis; and Megan (Jeff) Patterson; and 14 great grandchildren: Haley, Jack and Ryan Berends; Hunter and Hugh Pearson; Amrie, Connor and Jade Pearson; Cayden, Sydney and Weston Smith; Blakely Patterson and Wilson and Emma Read; one brother, Robert Stewart and his wife, Beverly of Spencer, IA; sister-in-law, Marjean Wegner of Fernandina Beach, FL; sister-in-law, Maxine (Darrell) Thomas of Denver, CO; and several other relatives and many friends.
