Milo Dean Peters, the son of Edward and Helen (Kruckenberg) Peters was born June 26, 1938 in Hartley, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Hartley area, where he attended school and graduated from Hartley High School in 1956. He then attended Morningside College for one year. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1957 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1959.
Milo married Claris Thu on March 19, 1960 in Graettinger, IA. Milo worked at a local gas station and a carpenter until he began farming near Hartley, IA. They were blessed with 5 children, Kimberly, Mark, Debra, Lorelei and Daniel.
Milo was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hartley, IA and later joined St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sanborn, IA. Milo was faithful to his Lord and made sure his family was brought up knowing the Lord. He taught Sunday School, held various offices in the church, sang in church choir and sang at numerous funerals and weddings. He was a member of Farm Bureau, the Osceola Rural Water Board and past school board member. He enjoyed wood working and spending time with his family.
Milo passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2026 at home in Sioux City, IA, at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 brothers, Lester and Glen Peters and a son-in-law Rick Zieman.
Left to cherish his memory are his 5 children, Kimberly (Brad) Cale of Sioux City, IA, Mark (Alene) Peters of Hartley, IA, Debra (Doug) Van Voorst of Hartley, IA, Lorelei (Brad) Beving of Hartley, IA, and Daniel (Lori) Peters of Clive, IA; 13 grandchildren, Carrie (Jim) Torgerson, Christy (Tim) Johnson, Nathan Cale, Courtney (Shawn) Christoffers, Mikaela (Andrew) Johnstone, Wesley, Luke (fiancé Maddie) and Clint Peters, Brent (Ashley) Zieman and Craig (Ashley) Zieman, Clarissa (Zach) Kollbaum, Michelle (Matt) Christen and Alan Beving; 16 great-grandchildren: Meika K. and Creed Torgerson, Karter Zimmer, June, Eve, and Corick Zieman, Calvin, Elliot, Nile and Danae Kollbaum, Grayson and Collin Johnson, Arydian and Milo Cristoffers, Colter and Summer Zieman; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
