Michael Duane Schomaker

     Michael Duane Schomaker, the son of Delbert and Mabel (Miller) Schomaker was born June 15, 1949 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Spencer area, where he attended school and graduated from Spencer High School.

     Mike attended brick laying school, before joining the National Guard. He married Margaret Hubbard on October 18, 1969 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert City, IA. He worked for several construction companies, before starting his own business, Schomaker Construction in 1974. He married Robin Gunn on October 21, 2019 at their home in their kitchen with close family present along with their matchmakers, Neal and Cindy Drefke.

     Mike enjoyed finding cars and fixing them up, attending car shows, garage tours, drawing, listening to music, finding excuses to build things, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Black Knights in Estherville, IA and Iowa Great Lakes Antique Car Club.

     Mike passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at his home in Spencer, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret in 2004, one brother Bruce Schomaker, and one grandson, Austin Roberts.

     Left to cherish his memory are his Wife Robin of Spencer, IA; 2 children, Lori Roberts of Dickens, IA, and “JR” Michael Peter Schomaker (Joanna Norgaard) of Spencer, IA; 8 grandchildren, Shae and Melany Roberts, “Tater”, Mike, Hannah, Layla, PJ, Landen and “Squirt” Gunn; one brother, Peter (Marla) Schomaker of Gladbrook, IA; one sister, Jann (Larry) Arends of Spencer, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
