Melinda "Mindy" Jane Petersen

Melinda (55) passed away September 13, 2017 in Bloomington, MN.  Melinda – or Mindy as she was known – was born October 10, 1961 in Spencer, Iowa.  In recent years, Mindy resided at a REM group home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  She attended a daycare workshop, RISE Creative Partnership in Bloomington, Minnesota.  Previously she lived at Hammer Residences in Wayzata, MN.  Melinda enjoyed musical DVD’s, picture books, and community trips, including-most recently- the Minnesota State Fair.  She loved dogs and the interaction with the dedicated staff at REM and RISE.

     Melinda is survived by parents, Phil and Kathy Petersen of Okoboji, IA; her brother, Jim (Polly) and their son, Chapman of Winnetka, IL; her Uncle Steve of Okoboji and Naples, FL; her aunts, Jo Kendall of Rossmoor, CA, Nancy (Harlan) Christenson of Spirit Lake, IA, and Pat Severson of Ames, IA.  Family preceding her in passing were her grandparents: J.C. and Alma Petersen and Frank and Helen Chapman of Spencer.

      In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made in Mindy’s name.
