Mary K. Edmondson

Mary Kathleen Edmondson, the daughter of Donald Andrew and Catherine Iona (Carey) Sheehan, was born January 24, 1949 in Ft. Dodge, IA.  Her childhood years were spent in Spencer, where she received her education at Sacred Heart Catholic School, later graduating from Spencer High School in 1967. Mary K. had many fond memories of her time at the old swimming pool in Spencer. She continued her education at the University of South Dakota, where she received her nursing degree.

     Mary K. was a dedicated nurse at Spencer Hospital from 1973 until her retirement in 2014 with the exception of four years at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, IA when the family lived in Story City, IA.  She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Spencer.  Mary K. enjoyed reading, antiques and spending time with her family and friends.  She was known as a fanatic college basketball fan of the Iowa State Cyclones & the Iowa Hawkeyes for many years.

     Mary K. passed away at Northshire Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at the age of 73.  She was preceded in death by her parents & a sister, Julie Sheehan.

     She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Hughes of St. Louis, MO; a son, Alan Edmondson of Spencer, IA; a granddaughter, Rebekka Hughes; a sister, Carol (Tim) Cooper of Waukesha, WI; other relatives & many friends.
