Mary Evelyn Grover

     Mary  Evelyn Grover, the daughter of George and Mary (Schultz) Laubenthal, was born December 8, 1940 in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  Her childhood years were spent in Graettinger, Iowa, where she received her education.  Mary moved to Nebraska, where she worked for 12 years.  She then moved back to Spencer, where she worked at Spencer Super Valu for 10 years.  She then went on to work at Spencer Hospital for 10 years.  Mary then worked at Walmart for 13 years in the infant department which she very much enjoyed.  Mary enjoyed horse races, playing bingo, but mostly spending time with her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She also loved Christmas and Christmas music, was an avid Hawkeye Fan, loved country music and dancing.

    She passed away  surrounded by her family on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the age of 80.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert; a sister, Carol Smith of Arizona and one son, Rick Dietrich.

     Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Lyle Grover of Spencer; six children: Pam (Doug) Bjorklund, Trish Roach, Brenda (Doug) Vanderhoff, Bill (James) Palmer, Angie Friedrich of Spencer, IA; 15 Grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
