Marlyn Gale Blair

     Marlyn Gale Blair the daughter of Vern and Lilly (Struve) was born on September 22, 1927, in Clay County west of Rossie. She was raised near Rossie and attended school there, graduating in 1945 from Rossie High School.

     On May 28, 1949, she married John Blair Jr., at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. The couple spent their entire married life in Spencer. Marlyn was a bookkeeper for Jackson Lumber for many years. She then worked at House of Beauty, the family business as bookkeeper. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She liked to go Bowling every Monday and according to John she was very good. She was also active at the Y.M.C.A. The couple celebrated 70 years of marriage on May 28, 2019. Every year on their anniversary John would ask her, Do you think it’s going to last? Marlyn would always say the verdict is still out!

     Marlyn passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the Hartley Memorial Health Center at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Vernon and John.

     Left to cherish her memory are her husband, John of Spencer, IA; her son, Thomas and his wife Kerin of Spencer, IA; her daughter, Angela Brant and her husband, Steven of Portland, OR; her grandchildren: John and Scott Brant; one great-grandchild, Hudson Brant; other relatives and friends.
