Marlene Phyllis Butler

     Marlene Phyllis Siedschlag, daughter of William and Doris (Nenow) Siedschlag, was born on November 29, 1938 in Norfolk, NE. She departed this life on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

     Marlene was baptized on January 1, 1939 by Pastor Albert Knoll and was confirmed on April 6, 1952 by Pastor William J. Hassold at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk, NE.

     She grew up in the Norfolk area and attended country school in Stanton County where the family farm was located. After 5th grade, Marlene attended Christ Lutheran Parochial School in Norfolk until her confirmation. She graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1956.

     Marlene and the late Dr. John Butler were joined in marriage at Christ Lutheran on August 24, 1957. Three children were born to this union. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, cooking, and mushroom hunting. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hebron, Ne and a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer, IA.

     Marlene passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

     Left to cherish her memory are her children, Shelly (Brent) Dometrorch of Columbia, MO, Todd Butler of Kansas City, MO, and Samuel (Kim) Butler of Arnolds Park, IA; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one brother, William (Jan) Siedschleg of Norfolk, NE; several cousins; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

     In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Marlene's name.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 3, at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
