Marlene Hoffman

Marlene Hoffman, the daughter of Loren and Cecile (Johnson) Ripple, was born on October 20, 1935, in Smithland, IA. She received her early education in Hornick, graduating from Hornick High School in 1954. Marlene continued her education and graduated from Wayne State College.

Marlene was united in marriage to Frank Hoffman on June 24, 1962, at Hornick Methodist Church. To this union of over 63 years, they were blessed with four children: Jeff, Brad, Renee and David. Marlene taught school in Marcus, Sloan, Onawa, Hawaii and Emmetsburg. In her spare time, Marlene enjoyed dancing, shopping, going to Red Hat Ladies luncheons, eating milk chocolate, decorating for Christmas and most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Marlene passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, David and great granddaughter, Lydia Wetter.

She is survived by her husband, Frank of Spencer, IA; her children: Jeff (Crystal) of La Crosse, WI, Brad (Jean) of Spencer, IA and Renee of Spencer, IA; 7 grandchildren: Judah, Deborah (Lance), Tabitha (Taran), Elijah (Sienna), Sarah (Kyle), Brett and Garret; 5 great grandchildren: Temprance, Tzphora, Truman, Eleanor, Liam and one on the way; other relatives and friends.
