Mark Wayne Schwarting

Mark Wayne Schwarting, the son of Milton and Lorraine (Lee) Schwarting, was born October 1, 1943, in Harris, Iowa.  His childhood years were spent in Harris where he received his education.  After his education, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Point Defiance during the Vietnam Conflict from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1964.

     Mark married Vickie Klinker and to this union three children were raised: Gina, Heather and Kelly.

     He moved to Spencer, Iowa, where he was a contract mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.  Mark later owned and operated Schwarting Bros. Inc. until his retirement in 2009. 

     Mark passed away at home surrounded by family on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the age of 77.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Gary Schwarting, Kurt Schwarting and Julie Krueger.

     Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters: Gina (Jon) Muessigmann of Spencer, IA, Heather (Justin) Sweet of Sioux Falls, SD, and Kelly (Joe) Kuehler of Spencer, IA; five grandchildren: Casey Muessigmann, Taza (Margaret) Kennaway, Daniel (Emilie) Moore, Katlyn (Brian) Neary and Lucas Kuehler; one great-grandchild, Marlee Kennaway; his siblings: Janice (Donald) Bonds of Evergreen, CO, Jodell Fliss of Arnolds Park, IA, Jeralyn Martinez of Winter Springs, FL, Brian Schwarting of Harris, IA, Vern (Tammy) Schwarting of Spencer, IA, Janine Novotny of Oakland, NE, Kevin (Marlee) Schwarting of Lakefield, MN, Kent Schwarting of Apoka, FL and Jill (Max) Miller of Bancroft, SD; several nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; other relatives and many friends.
