May 12, 1932 — January 28, 2023

Spencer

Marjorie Fae (Schlagel) Perren passed away on December 28, 2023 at the age of ninety years old.  She was known by her family and friends as Aunt Margie or Marge.  She was born on May 12, 1932 to Ray and Paulina Schlagel in Culbertson, Nebraska.  After graduating from Culbertson High School, she went on to study at Kearny State Teachers College in Nebraska.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Nebraska while also working as a secretary.
Marge was a gifted teacher, sharing her shorthand and typing expertise with students wherever she taught.  She followed her career back and forth between Nebraska and California.  Marge applied and was tested for a position within Lockheed Martin where she worked for some time.  Later, Marge continued her teaching career at Foothills College.  She was one of the first instructors to teach on the Macintosh Computer.  She also consulted with Wang Laboratories on a word processing training program and with the American Institute of Research in developing a word processing test that was written and produced to be used nationally.
Over the years, Marge traveled to Japan, where she found her love for the Japanese culture and the art of bonsai.  Her trip to Hawaii also captured her heart.  She made numerous trips to McCook, Nebraska and Spencer, Iowa visiting her mother, Paulina and twin sister, Peg Norris.
Marge retired to Aurora, Colorado where she resided for 21 years making friends, playing bridge, reading many books and sharing holiday dinners.
In 2012, Marge moved to Spencer to be closer to her twin sister, Peg and her family.  She made a lovely home for herself and found wonderful new neighbors and friends.  She continued playing bridge, joining Peg and the other ladies every Tuesday at the Country Club.
Although Marge did not have a home church in Spencer, she had a
heart for God and He was her everything.  Her faith in God was unshakable and she put her total trust in Him.  She spoke often of God winks and loved to share the story when she received one.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Paulina Schlager, older sister Mary Ellen Fluegeman and her husband Jack, her twin sister Margaret “Peg” Norris and her husband Ken, and her beloved fur-babies Molly, Polly and Contessa.  She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Deb Norris, Sandy Norris Murray (Dick), Jenny Zalaznik (Kevin), Kyle Norris (Diedra), Kathi Kelley, Barbara McKinnies and Julie Graf and her great nephews and niece Drew Hjelm (Rebecca), Katy Taylor (Grant), Andy Murray and Alex Murray; and five great nephews and nieces with one on the way.
