Marilyn Culver Johnson was born in Dickens, Iowa August 15,1930 to parents Carl and Edith(Hargrave)Culver. She attended a country school near Dickens and graduated from high school in Gillette Grove. Marilyn went on to graduate from Buena Vista University with a degree in Elementary teaching. In 1950 Marilyn was united in marriage to Cleo Johnson. They were blessed with 70 years together and 4 children. Marilyn was a lifelong member of the Dickens United Methodist Church. Also, a member of the RLCA Auxiliary. She was on the Sight council, delivered Meals on Wheels, and had a lot of fun on the Decorating Committee at the Senior Center. Marilyn enjoyed the special bond she had with her Lunch Bunch friends that met weekly.
Marilyn & her husband Cleo spent winters in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas for 16 years. They enjoyed the activities and made many longtime friends as “winter Texans”.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, a baby brother, her brother Leonard, her husband Cleo.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Bob (Chris) Johnson of Afton, WY., Ron (Betty)Johnson of Sioux Falls, Jerry Johnson of Sioux Rapids, Rene J Atchison of Sioux Falls and grandchildren: Jennifer (Rich) Goll, Heather (Adam)Warren, Dan Johnson, Jamie (Gordon) Varuska, Elizabeth (Brady)McGeough, Angela (Tom) Cutshall, Jake Johnson, Jessica Johnson, and great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
