Margaret Hazel Koopmann

March 3, 1921 — November 20, 2014

Margaret Hazel Koopmann, the daughter of Anton and Hazel (Hoffman) Marovets, was born March 3, 1921 in Monona, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Monona, where she received her education. Margaret married Harold Koopmann on June 1, 1943 in Monona. After their marriage, they farmed and raised chickens in rural Monona for many years. She was also a licensed taxidermist. They retired in 1979 and moved into the town of Monona. She enjoyed gardening and sewing and was well known for her large rose garden, which she cared for. In 2000, she moved to Peterson, Iowa, where she was closer to her family. In 2012, she moved to an assisted living facility in Spencer, Iowa. She passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the age of 93. Margaret was preceded in death by two sisters: Rose Marie Koopmann & Anna Mae Leas; two brothers: Ben & Robert; an infant daughter; a brother-in-law, Allen Leas; a sister-in-law, Betty Marovets and a grandson, Ken Bang. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Judy (Jon) Bang of Peterson; one brother, Anthony Marovets of Guttenburg, IA; one step grandchild, Jon L. (Stephanie) Bang of Linn Grove, IA; 6 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Senior Citizen's Center in Peterson, Iowa.

Funeral services will take place 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 24, at Garden City Methodist Church in Monona, IA
