Marcie Kay Zittritsch, age 64, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2022, with her family by her side, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born March 8, 1958, in Pisgah, IA, to Violet (Ginny) Major. She was a 1976 graduate of West Harrison High School. Marcie and Timothy Zittritsch were married on March 21, 1981, in Spencer, IA. She had two children:  Dane in 84’ and Tyler in 86’. Marcie was employed as a lead in the sewing department at Stylecraft Furniture for many years.  Marcie later enrolled in nursing school at Iowa Lakes Community College, graduating and obtaining her RN licensure in 2006; she went on to further her education, graduating from Kaplan University with a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing). The majority of Marcie’s 15 year nursing career was spent at Spencer Hospital in the ICU, ER, and then was a resource nurse until she became an infusion Specialist. Marcie enjoyed her career as a nurse because she loved helping others and especially enjoyed her coworkers. In her spare time, Marcie was a pro in the garden, and she loved sewing and quilting. Marcie liked days off when she could catch “The Young and the Restless” and bake a fresh chocolate cake. She loved her “grandbabies” and was known to all  as “Nana”. She loved taking day trips to go shopping and she enjoyed the occasional Margarita. Nana had a big heart and loved wholeheartedly. Her home and her kitchen were always open to everyone.

She is survived by her loving husband Timothy Zittritsch, her two sons Dane and Tyler Zittritsch (Morgan Zittritsch), niece Samantha Sullivan, grandkids Anika, Aubriella, and Wyatt Zittritsch, and Isabelle Mohr, her sister Kristy Ruffcorn-Little, her niece Andrea Burgess (Scott Jacobson), and nephew Ethan Burgess (Samantha Burgess). Nana cared deeply for her extended family, as well. Survivors also include: niece Jenifer Burbridge, nephew Nathan Burbridge (Jessica Burbridge), nieces and nephews; Bethany Burbridge, Landon Mohr, Beau Mohr, Nedelle Smartt, Balen Burbridge, Ellie and Easton Burgess, Grace, Claire, and Miles Burbridge.

Marcie was preceded in death by her mother Violet (Ginny)  Major, her step father Dean Major, her sister Ranea (Little) Burbridge, brother-in-laws Larry Ruffcorn, David Zittritsch, and Tom Zittritsch, and nephew Todd Burbridge.

On behalf of Marcie, the family would like to thank everyone for taking the time to celebrate Marcie’s life and for sending their condolences.

Family and close friends are welcome at the Zittritsch home after the services for refreshments and snacks.
