She was preceded in death by her husband Gaylord, parents Edor and Clara Valdahl, sister Mary Hintz, and brother Jim Valdahl.
Donna was born January 9, 1935, in Austin, Minnesota. She was raised and educated in Spencer, Iowa graduating high school in May, 1952. She graduated as a registered nurse from the Presentation School of Nursing in Mitchell, South Dakota in 1955. She worked for many years at the Spencer Hospital and then transitioned to the private medical practice of Drs. Jones, Fieselmann and Kelly until retirement. Donna was united in marriage to Gaylord Vogt on June 28, 1956. Donna and Gaylord enjoyed over 51 years together until his death on February 13, 2008.
Donna followed state and national politics closely. She loved her faithful dog companion Toby, and also enjoyed reading, watching old westerns and cooking. Her children and grandchildren always looked forward to a delicious Thanksgiving feast year after year. Donna relished the simplicity that could be found in life: a cup of coffee while reading the morning newspaper, chatting regularly with the neighbors, a hug from a grandchild. She was a woman of strong faith and never missed Sunday Mass until it became impossible for her to attend. “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21). Rest in peace Mom, Grandma, Great-grandma, sister and friend.
