Milford

Lowell Elvis Watters son of Helma Katherine Kruse and Daniel Elvis Watters was born on December 16th, 1920 in Hartley, IA. He spent his youth there graduating in 1939 from the Hartley Community School. Lowell went on to serve his country in WWII in the Army from 1942 to 1944 when he was honorably discharged.

On December 16th, 1950 he was united in marriage to LaVonne "Bonnie" Meyer and they were blessed with three sons: Lowell Lynn, Terry Lee and Mitchell Jay. They raised their boys on the family farm 1 1/2 miles east of Hartley where Lowell farmed until 1975. He worked at Citation Homes in Spirit Lake for several years until retiring. Upon retiring he found a part time job that he truly loved with the Department of Natural Resources as a summer maintenance man. He finally retired for real when he was 85 years old.

Lowell had an extensive Lionel Train collection and enjoyed going to model train shows and auctions. He also loved animals and was commonly seen walking his black labs in his neighborhood or in the area parks.

Lowell is survived by two sons and their wives, Terry & Jean of Estherville, Mitch & Valerie of Arnolds Park; four grandchildren: Krissy & Beau Bolsenga of Virginia, Angie & Jeremy Simington of Graettinger, IA, Alex Watters of Sioux City, IA and Breanna Watters of South Carolina. He was also blessed with four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1988 and his infant son, Lowell Lynn in 1952.
