Lowell Edward Meier, the son of Edward and Nellie (Pitt) Meier was born March 13, 1933 in Persia, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Logan, IA area where he attended school and graduated from Logan High School in 1951. He attended community college for 2 years. Lowell enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1955. He was proud to have been a cook for General Dwight D. Eisenhower at Camp David.
Lowell married Delores Graham on September 15, 1954 in Logan, IA. He worked at Safeway in Auburn, NE and Fort Dodge, IA, before moving to Spencer, IA in 1960. He started work at SuperValu in 1978 and worked until his retirement in 1998. Lowell enjoyed watching sports, watching Shark Tank, being outdoors, gardening, volunteering to help people and helping build the addition on the church. Lowell was proud to have gone 3 for 4 with 1 homerun against Bob Gibson while playing semi-pro baseball. He was devoted to Jesus and spread His word to people, and he will be remembered as a loving husband and father.
Lowell passed away on Tuesday, September 27, at Spencer Hospital, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers: Carroll and Arlon; one sister, Betty Oloff; one sister-in-law, Jackie Meier and one brother-in-law, Lyle Oloff.
Left to cherish his memory are his two children: Pam Meier and Steven (Kelly) Meier; two grandchildren: Juston and Katie; one brother, Lyle “Butch” Meier; one sister-in-law, Pat Meier; other relatives and many friends.
