Loren Lee Leslie, the son of Lawrence and Peggy (Mangels) Leslie was born in Hartley, IA on November 2, 1952. He was raised in Everly, IA and later moved to Gillett Grove, where he graduated from South Clay in 1971. Loren enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1971 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1974.
Loren returned to the area and worked as a carpenter for Leslie Construction with his dad and brother. He spent a few years as a fishing guide in Lake of the Woods, MN. He then returned to Dickens, IA and continued work with Leslie Construction until his retirement.
Loren enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, being outdoors, bowling, softball, playing horseshoes, and for many years he was on Lindy’s pool team. He liked watching sports, especially the Cyclones. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Loren passed away on December 19, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Danny.
Left to cherish his memory are his 2 siblings, Perry Leslie of Dickens, IA and Deanna (Jay) Clasing of Arnolds Park, IA; 2 nieces, Sarah (Jack Bechthold) Clasing of Okoboji, IA and Molly (Kyle) Reed of Grimes, IA; nephew, Tyler (Jenna) Clasing of Arnolds Park, IA; great-nephews, Tate and Parker Reed, and Hudson and Yates Clasing; cousin, George Hintz of Everly, IA; other relatives; and many friends.
