Linda Rae Condra

Linda (Hamblen) Condra, a resident of The Great Outdoors Resort in Titusville, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026. Linda was the third child born to Helen and Neil Hamblen of Atlanta, Illinois on November 1, 1945. Her father, Neil, would die in a tragic accident when Linda was nine years old. Her family moved to the Chicago area when her mother married Jack Marquard.

It was in Des Plaines, Illinois where Linda met Wayne Condra on a blind date in 1962. Their relationship grew even though Wayne was soon transferred to Indianapolis and then Atlanta, Georgia. Following Wayne’s Navy obligation, they were married on July 20, 1968 and took up residence in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Following the birth of her first son, Linda made the great decision to work as a full-time mother and housewife. In that role she was also the “neighborhood mom”, performing a range of activities such as shuttling kids to soccer practices and serving as Cub Scout den leader. She was a caring and hardworking woman who quietly anticipated the needs of those she loved. Her family could always count on her unwavering support and steady presence. She took pride in maintaining a welcoming home, staying on top of the household chores with remarkable dedication. In fact, she preferred doing dishes by hand and never used a dishwasher.

Linda is survived by her husband Wayne, two sons, Derek (Holly) and Bryan (Deana) along with three outstanding granddaughters – Katherine, Charlotte and Courtney. Also surviving her are two sisters, Nancy Burley and Lori Benner along with many nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Dixie Van Gieson, Robin Ingram and Margaret Harmon and brothers Jeff Hamblen and Jack Hamblen.

Throughout her life, Linda was a devote Christian and a member of the Methodist Church. She never cursed, drank or smoked, thus setting a good example for all.

Following Wayne’s retirement in 1995, they spent every summer traveling the United States in their motorhome. All states were visited except Delaware!

She loved sending postcards from her trips and always knew the price of a stamp. She also tracked gasoline prices and where to find the best deal. She enjoyed baking homemade cookies and pies and took special joy in passing along recipes to her grandchildren. Each year, she celebrated her birthday with a beloved tradition: baking her signature cherry pie.

Family was at the center of her life. She shared a particularly close bond with her mother, phoning her often. Her devotion extended across generations. For example, she spent countless hours with her granddaughters teaching them how to cook, making lemonade, playing card games like Old Maid, planting flowers, and attending sports, dance and music recitals.

She found peace and happiness outdoors - looking at plants, watching birds, sitting on the beach, and appreciating the beauty around her. One of her favorite places was Jetty Park, where she enjoyed watching the cruise ships depart from Port Canaveral and disappear over the horizon.

Linda was always a supporter of her local food pantry. Every time she went grocery shopping, she would buy extra and drop it off for the needy. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider supporting your local food pantry in her name.

Her memorial service will be held in Spencer, Iowa at 1:30 on June 20 at the Warner Funeral Home. A viewing will precede the service. She will lie at rest as part of the fourth generation in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
