Leroy Dean Dailey, the son of David and Eleanor (Truelson) Dailey was born August 17, 1939 in West Bend, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Havelock, IA area where he attended school and graduated from Havelock High School in 1957.
Leroy enlisted in the U.S. Navy 1959 and served for 22 years until his Honorable Discharge in 1981. He married Wilhelmina Chong at her parent’s house in Aiea, HI on September 3, 1966. They lived in numerous places while Leroy was in the Navy. They moved to Gillett Grove, IA in 1981. Leroy worked for Spencer Municipal Utilities and farmed for 17 years until his retirement in 2001. He continued to work for Walmart and Clay County.
Leroy enjoyed traveling, camping, playing Cribbage, farming, and especially spending time with his family. He was known as a jack of all trades. He was a member of the NRA.
Leroy passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the Ruthven Care Center at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, an infant sister, Vicky, and one brother, Randy.
Left to cherish his memory are his 3 children, Penny Jerome of Seattle, WA, Troy Dailey of Nevada, IA, and Michele Dailey of Spencer, IA; 2 grandchildren, Marissa (Steven) Welch of Collins, IA and Shelby (Jonathan) (Donis) of Buckeye, AZ 4 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
