Lavern "Joe" Kenneth Hamrick

December 30, 1941 — February 26, 2022

Spencer

     LaVern “Joe” Kenneth Hamrick, the son of Arthur “Art” and Georgia (Logan) Hamrick, was born December 30, 1941 in Spencer, IA.  His childhood years were spent on a farm in the Gillett Grove and Fostoria, Iowa area, where he received his early education. 

     Joe married Edith Louise Nelson on June 14, 1959 at the Methodist Church in Spencer.  Following their marriage, they lived in
Spencer, where he worked for area farmers in the early years and then worked for Spencer Foods for 5 years.  Joe then went to work for Clay County with the Roads Department where he worked for 26 years until his retirement in 2004.  He was a member of the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.  Joe also enjoyed camping with his wife and family and golfing in his younger years. 

     He passed away at his home in Spencer on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the age of 80.  Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edith in 2011; three brothers: Lyle, Harley & Roland; four sisters: Ruth Allen, Donna Elbers, Ardis Bennett and Mavis Burgart; twin sisters who died at birth and one great granddaughter, Anna Hamrick.

     Joe is survived by his children: Ron (Rikki) Hamrick, Todd (Mel) Hamrick Michele (Tim) Yeager and Lavonne (Kevin) Bell all of Spencer; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; other relatives and many friends.

SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.

A Memorial Fund has been established.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday with the family present from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.
