Lollie passed away unexpectedly on the way to Sioux Falls, September 8th, 2025.
She is the daughter of Jens Larson and Evelyn (Emmert) Larson, was born on March 7th, 1947, in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up there and graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls. Shortly before she graduated, she met our dad, Mike, on a blind date. They dated for 3 months and then were married the 4 month! They were united in marriage on July 17, 1965, at the First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls.
They were blessed with 2 children- Loren Michael and Laurie Michelle. They lived in Sioux Falls for 8 years, then move to Royal, IA- where mom was a stay-at home mom raising her children.
After living there for 4 years, they moved to a family farm outside of Sioux Rapids. Mom worked as a teacher’s Aide at Sioux Rapids-Rembrandt (Sioux Central) schools for 25 years. They continued to live on the family farm until dad retired from farming. In 2024, they built a house next door to Laurie in Peterson, IA where they lived until her passing.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, Michael McDeid of Peterson. Her son, Loren (Stephanie) of Spokane, WA, and her daughter Laurie (Kevin) Saunders of Peterson, IA. Her 2 adopted daughters: Robin Patrick of Peterson, IA, Julie Hurt, LeMars. 5 Grandchildren: Zack (Alyssa) of Hayden, ID, Hayden and Quincy McDeid of Spokane, WA, Matthew (Jessie) Saunders of Peterson, IA, and Jacob Saunders of Peterson, IA. 2 Great-Grandchildren: Kaleb McDeid and Brynlee Saunders. Sisters: Mary June (Jerry) Gerhart of Rochester, MN, Sharon (Fred) Raap of Osburn, ID, and Lynell Schmitt of Madera, CA, and several nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by her parents, Jens Larson, Evelyn (Emmert) Koens, and her aunts and uncles.
She was so full of life- sassiness, spunky, loving, caring, gullible, bold, and a character. Her laugh was infectious, and she would laugh until tears would be streaming down her face. There was never a time that she didn’t say “I Love You!”. She would brighten up a room with her smile. When she was younger, she painted steins and other ceramics, she did such an amazing job on them. She absolutely loved the Clay County Fair- her and dad would go up and stay the whole week in the fair campground and met wonderful people as they spent their time up there. She enjoyed going on vacations with the family especially to the Rushmore region. Her other favorites were Elvis Presley, the Game Show network, Word Puzzles, Iowa State sports, supporting her Sioux Central Rebels, any NFL football game, jigsaw puzzles, Diet Dr. Pepper, any kind of sweet- always snitching them and trying to hide them from dad, Kevin’s cooking, and Robin’s baked goods. She would always have quarters in her pockets for the kids and then it turned into pens. She would take any kind of pen, if it was laying there - it wouldn’t be after mom got ahold of it. Family meant everything to her- she would eagerly wait for us to come home from work and ask us how our day was, even if it was Sunday. Little miss Brynlee lit up her whole world from the time she was born. They had a very special bond. We all have happy memories of sharing a life with her. Please share your stories with the family and friends.
