Larry Lyle Luedke

     Larry Lyle Luedke, age 68, of Spencer passed away March 31, 2020 at home surrounded by family.

     Born on August 25, 1951 in Hartley, IA, he was the son of Gale Maynard Luedke and Colleen Faye (Trunnell) Luedke.  Larry and family moved to several different places throughout his childhood until they decided to call the Spencer area home.  Larry attended and graduated from Spencer High School in 1969.  He then joined the Navy from 1969-1973.  He often talked about his time as a Radioman on the Navy Ship San Jose.  He enjoyed telling stories of his time in the Navy and was proud he was a Vietnam Veteran.  Upon his discharge from the Navy, Larry met and married Cheryl McClatchey in 1976.  They had one son, Casey James, in 1978.  They later divorced.  In 1985, Larry married Kaylene Weinzetl and they moved to Fonda, IA.  Kaylene has one son, Chad, that welcomed one sister, Kelly, in 1988 and one brother, Brian, in 1989 before moving to Spencer and welcoming a second sister, Kara, in 1993.

     Larry enjoyed spending time working on Classic Cars and going to car shows, spending time with family-especially his grandchildren, and spending time with friends.

     Larry is survived by his wife, Kaylene; his five children: Chad Weinzetl (Kim) Frisco, TX, Casey Luedke (Michele) Palm Coast, FL, Kelly Luedke (Peter Lewison) Marion, IA, Brian Luedke Phoenix, AZ and Kara Luedke Spencer, IA; grandchildren: Tyler, Adam, Lauryn (Casey) and Noah, Caleb (Chad), Andrew, Elizabeth (Kelly), and Jayden (Kara); brothers: Dan (Lucy) and Bob Luedke and sister, Monica Luedke; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.

     Larry was preceded in death by his father, Gale Luedke; mother, Colleen Luedke; mother-in-law, Jean Weinzetl and brother-in-law, Kevin Weinzetl.
