Our Dad. Husband. Papa. Brother. Uncle. Friend. Lamont “Monty” Lee Dammann, 62, passed away on Monday, September 21st, 2026, surrounded by his family, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, love, and a whole lot of people who will miss him dearly.
Monty was many things to many people. He had a charm about him and a way of making people feel like they mattered. He was a true social butterfly who loved hearing people’s stories. If you chatted with him, you'd better believe he would remember the details. He didn’t just meet people; he remembered them and cared for them. He loved to tease, tell stories, make jokes, and most of all, make people smile.
Monty grew up in Paulina until moving to Spencer in 1975 with his sisters Cindy and Cheri, and parents Merle and Jean. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1982. He married Cheryl Donlin in 1984, and they had two children, Jesse and Caitlin. After a divorce, Monty married Monica Beasley on January 29, 2000. Monty was a hard worker. He had many different jobs. Delivering milk, working at Arnie's Gas Station, delivering pop with Mid-Continent 7up Bottlers, and was the beer guy with Anheuser Busch/Budweiser. He worked at Polaris, where he met his wife, Monica; then he moved on to Eaton's, and finally landed his dream job at Corn Belt Power.
Monty loved riding motorcycle and participating in motorcycle shows and rides with buddies and brothers. He loved watching WWE Wrestling with his kids, socializing with friends and people of all sorts, spending time with family, watching Chicago PD, and his pup, Chooey. When the grandkids started coming, they took over as being his all-time favorite people to think about and talk about. He made sure everyone knew how proud he was of his kids and grandkids.
Monty is survived by his wife Monica Dammann, children Jesse Dammann (Gracie), and Caitlin Roush (David), 11 Grandchildren, MaKayla Francis (Caden Khenkitisak), MacKinzie Wethor, Alex Francis (Alivia), Jaida Dammann, Abigail, Hannah, David, Lily, Rachel, Jonathan, and Hope Roush, 1 Great-Grandchild Beckham Francis and Baby Khenkitisak arriving soon, Sisters Cindy Drefke (Neal) and Cheri Woolery (Randy Wise), Sister-in-law Stephanie Plant (David), Brother-in-law Joey Beasley, and many nieces and nephews. Monty is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Carrie Dammann, Forest and Margaret Fink; parents Merle Dammann and Jean Halverson; Jean’s husbands, Frank Tielbur and Norman Halverson; Merle’s wife, Nita Dammann; brothers-in-law Jim Hoppe and Randy Woolery; and Nephew Samuel Woolery,
You fought so hard for so long, you are loved and missed by many.
