Kevin Scott Shuberg

   Kevin Scott Shuberg, 71, of Spencer, Iowa died on Monday August 31, 2026, at the Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City, Iowa due to end stage liver disease he has been dealing with over the past couple of years. Kevin was born on October 19th, 1954, in Spencer, Iowa to Kenneth "Shorty" Shuberg and Lois Carter. He grew up in Sioux Rapids, Iowa and attended high school there. At 17, he entered into the United States Army. Upon completion of his military service, he returned home and married Joan Franseen. Kevin and Joan had three children together, Sam, Ben, and Heidi. 

   They resided in Wyoming where Kevin drove semi-trucks over the road, exploring the country and enjoying the freedom that came with driving cross-country. He then pursued an education in commercial refrigeration through Eastern Wyoming Community College in Torrington, Wyoming. After completion of his education, his career brought them back to Cherokee, Iowa, where he worked for Taylor Refrigeration for many years. 

   Kevin was a hard worker, a straight-shooter, and some may have described him as stubborn. He enjoyed semi-trucks, southern rock music, good company, and maintaining a simple life. He was married to Jerri Gilmore later in life and then was widowed as she lost her battle with cancer. 

   Kevin is survived by his three children, Sam (Lisa) Shuberg and their three children, Kaitlyn, Rachel, and Calvin of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; Ben (Emily) Shuberg and their four children, Adeline, Abram, Clara, and Samuel of Ames, Iowa; Heidi Shuberg and her three children, Kingston, Charlie, and Meru of Ames, Iowa; his brother, Pat (Linda) Cannon of Texas; his sister, Paula Guerra of Story City, Iowa; his nephew, Joe (Christine) Cannon of Tennessee; along with many great cousins. 

   He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Lois, his wife Jerri Gilmore, and his nephew, Jesse Guerra.

    A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
