Kenneth Richard Hample

Kenneth Richard Hample, 66 of Spencer, passed away at his daughter’s home in Spencer surrounded by his loved ones. Kenneth was born to Richard and Darlene Hample on January 26th 1958, Kenneth spent his childhood in the Jackson area enjoying his time hunting and fishing and going to his grandparents’ cabin on Lake Winnibigoshish. Kenneth joined the United States Marine Corp and this was one of his proudest times in his life.  After returning home, Kenneth worked at the Hample’s store in Jackson becoming a HVAC technician specializing in commercial refrigeration. Kenneth was an excellent fisherman, as he fished tournaments for a couple of years and wrote a book about good fishing spots in the Iowa Great Lakes. Kenneth was an avid deer hunter after obtaining at least two Pope and Young legends, then he began bow hunting as he continued  to bow hunting until he was no longer able to hunt. Kenneth attended Southwestern Minnesota Technical College graduating with a diploma in construction electrician in 1995.

Kenneth met and  then married his wife, Angela (Lange) Hample, in June of 1993. Kenneth and Angela had their daughter, Catarina. Kenneth had three boys from a previous marriage, Colt, Brent and Adam and two stepchildren, Camaron and Cassie Lange.  Kenneth and Angela moved back to the Jackson area and resided there until 2011. Kenneth enjoyed fishing and boating with the children and passing on the knowledge he had to all of them. Spending time as a stay-at-home father to Catarina was important to him, however Kenneth’s greatest joy in his life was teaching his grandchildren how to fish and that you can never have enough flashlights, white work gloves or fishing poles.

Kenneth was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, his mother, Darlene, Aunt Lorna Bader  and her husband Dr. Jean Bader, his sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Wayne Nesmoe and his father-in-law Duane Lange Sr and his best friends Lacie and little Puppy.

Left to treasure his memory are his wife Angela of Spencer, his children Catarina Hample of Spencer, Cassie (Ben Hintz) Lange of Spencer, Adam (Holly) Hample of Lake Park IA, Camaron (Siannon) Lange of Spencer, Brent Hample of Spencer and Colt Hample of Dickson, TN, his father Richard Hample of Spirit Lake, his sister, Karen (Steve) Pennaz of Ennis, MT, his In-laws, Patricia Lange, Spencer; Mellissa (Matt) Konrady of Spencer, Audra (David) Durnell  of Kyla, MT and Duane (Barb) Lange, Jr. of Washta, IA, 17-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many more extended family members.
