Keith Calvin Klatt

Keith Calvin Klatt, age 95, was born on August 4, 1927, to Emil and Etta (Steffen) Klatt along with his twin brother, Kenneth. He attended country school near Royal, graduated from Rossie High School in 1945, and soon after joined the Navy where he and Kenneth served together during WW,II. He was united in marriage to Crystal Dickeson in July 1949, and they became parents to three children: James, Timothy, Benita. Keith was a life-long farmer, even after “retirement.” He worked at the Linn Grove Co-op for several years after retiring from farming, and then he and Kenneth took up painting houses and other odd jobs in their spare time. When not painting, Keith enjoyed playing cards with friends in many of the surrounding communities. Keith passed peacefully at the Longhouse Residence during the early morning hours of December 21, 2022. He is survived by two of his children: son, Tim (Lisa) and daughter, Benita (Lee) Heldt; six grandchildren: Shannon Johnson, Jamie Klatt, Dustin Klatt, Anna Weigelt, Aaron Heldt and Adam Heldt; one sister, Onalee Zymbricki of Ruthven, IA; sixteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Keith was welcomed home by wife, Crystal; son, Jim; six of his siblings; and many other family members and friends who passed before him.
